Yeah, RUF buys "bodies in white" from porsche, which means he gets the stock body panels unpainted, the chassis minus VIN identification, and that's about it. He installs his own suspension, engines(he casts his own blocks, from what I heard), and the interior is custom built as per the customer's requests. There was an article about the RGT and 3400S in an old Sports Car International, and in it they described the option list as literaly hundreds of pages long. you can choose different grains, colors,a nd varieties of leather, different dash and headliner materials, etc. the coolest option is the integrated rollcage, which is inside the A and C pillars and exposed for a harness mounting bar attatchment point in the B pillar. anyways....check out http://www.ruf-automobile.de/english/index1.htm
My fave is definitely the RGT...but I'm not a fan of forced induction, so thats the logical choice i guess....

Basically, he's already put a deposit on the DB7 GT, but Momentum is only getting one, and they still don't know what color it's going to be. Most likely, it's going to be the baby blue that the rest of the US is getting. If so, he's not gonna get it... And hopefully get a Ruf.

I think this is the only way I'd NOT want an Aston Martin in our garage.

EDIT: Come to think of it, that may not even be a real RTurbo. There's no cooling "slit" between the headlights. The "real" RTurbo has a skinny horizontal, GT2-esque grille. The one pictured does not. Hmm...
Alex, tell your dad to ditch the Aston Martin and get the RUF. It would eat the DB7 GT alive and not even spit out the bones. The DB7 GT is barely about the performance match for the regular TT let alone a GT2 or isn't even a blip on the radar for the Ruf R Turbo. I bet that car could match fenders with any current production car (maybe except Ferrari Enzo or Carrera GT, but it wouldn't be far off).

Will do.

The funny thing is he doesn't want the blue Aston because "it's too bright." Yet if he were to get the Ruf, it would be in fly yellow.

Plus, the car has to be imported so that's more money (like the Aston isn't already a pricey bitch), not to mention the troubles with getting the car registered. It's still a work in progress, so we'll see how it goes. If the importation procedure was more simple (does anyone have information on this?), perhaps it would be the Ruf. I have my fingers crossed.

Alex,
Tell your dad that I'll trade him my Civic Si for his Aston. That way when he loses his license in the RUF, he can keep a low profile in the Civic. Tell him I'll pick it up this weekend also.

its still an overpriced, heavy, ergonomically challenged car with the engine in the wrong place.

Actually, the Ruf RTurbo stickers at only $215k - a steal considering it blows the doors off the more expensive 575M, Murcielago, Vanquish, etc.
