Toyota is also the Strongest Auto company in the World with over FIVE BILLION in Cash Reserves as of two years ago.

I have a feeling that they have even more cash to play with today.

Toyota sells more CARS than the Old Big Three combined. Now they want the United States bread and butter market where all the big profits are.

Without the Truck market the old Big Three are in Big Trouble, sad to say.

Hate to say this coming from a GM Family ( Father is a retired GM Designer ) in the Detroit area.

Guess what Stock good old Dad owns today ?
link for your numbers?

I saw both the new LS and LS-L today at the Detroit Auto Show. The interiors were first rate, but I was disappointed in the exterior styling (it looks better in pictures than it does in person) (The GS has better exterior proportions)

Why dont you post numbers that prove him wrong?

To save you some time....quick googling....

Toyota Motor Corp. forecasts 2006 worldwide sales at 7.91 million units and worldwide production at 8.11 million units. Adding expected results for Daihatsu and Hino brands brings the figures to 8.85 million and 9.06 million, respectively.

Output of 9.06 million, a 10% increase from 2005

Can't call it the Big Three anymore. Chrysler has been owned by Daimler (a German company). Even though Daimler-Chrysler is huge, it can't be used in the same context as The Big Three title anymore. It is now just "The Big Two". Perhaps in the future, it'll be "The Big None" or perhaps it'll remain "The Big Two".

P.S. Daimler-Chrysler is not in any sort of trouble. It's doing very strongly. Once Chrysler was near bankruptcy, but Daimler has not only brought it back to life, but to the gym and got it pumping iron.

Toyota sells more CARS than the big 3, not counting trucks from the big 3.

on-topic (sorry) anyone have specs on that Lexus 4.6 engine? I'm guessing they got the hp numbers at 7000 rpms, which isn't what I'd think customers in that class are looking for. Is the engine NA, or did they go with some form of FI to lower the peak hp rpms?
What's this? You think LS customers are race car drivers? Below that peak-hp RPM still lies 2xx to 3xx hp, plenty of power and torque for 99.999999999999999% of LS drivers. It doesn't jump from 1 hp to 380 in an instant, but gradually. Who here thinks 3xx hp below 7000 RPM is not enough for most LS drivers? Heck, most of them care more about the serenity in the car more than what power is produced at what RPM. In most cases, I don't *think* most will even press it above 4000 RPM.

Here's my prediction again: once this LS comes out, it'll break its own sales record, much like the upcoming Camry. Ah, serenity now! Serenity now! That's what their customers seek from those cars. Serenity now!
