OK, so it's a speculation thread, but knowing what we do know and guessing the rest make your pick.
we have a fairly good track record about Honda making sports cars. Audi/Lexus not so much.
However Ford has shown with the Ford GT that it doesn't take a track record and Honda with the first NSX also has shown that. So given the muscle/brains at Audi and Lexus it's a toss up.
Either way it's a great time ahead of us hopefully these cars will bring the best out of each other as well as make Porsche/Ferrari take notice.

It may try to "dethrone" the Ferrari but It won't do that in my book.Ferrari is more than a car its every man's dream car.

I think the Lexus will be one hell of a car. They have trumped every goal they ever set out to achieve,

The Lexus will prob. have plenty of performance, practicality, and reliability/refinement all rolled up into one package, but the lesser Lexi I've driven in the past have fallen short in the subjective aspects like driver feel, feedback, sound, etc.
If they can get that right, it s/b awesome all around!

If I could afford a $100K car, I'm not going to care about reliability - I'll be able to maintain the car without selling my wife every time it needs an oil change. So, I'd probably go with the Audi. They're a more sporting company overall so I'm betting they'll have better feel and offer more driving fun, even if the Lexus is faster.
Time will tell, I guess. Toyota made great cars with the MR2 and Supra. If they could bring some of that magic back, maybe the Lexus would really be a driving machine instead of a driven machine.

The only people who dream about a ferrari, are the people who cannot afford one. When you can, your thoughts will change.
Anyways, in this 2-car competition, I'm taking the R8. It's far prettier, and is actually designed. I just canot stand Lexus' idea of what people want in styling at this price point. The look makes no sense to me.

Might as well throw the next Lotus Esprit into the mix while you're at it.
I think I'd still want a 911, however. I don't think anything offers the driving experience, history, practicality, reliability, and useability like a Porsche. The 911 has seen plenty of competitors come and go, and when the Lexus and Audi have their run, the 911 will still be around. Might not be as fast as the new crop, but I bet it is more useable and more appealing for the long-term.

Ummmm...right. The fact that Ferrari's waiting list fills overnight when a new model is announced has nothing to do with real success or heritage...it's all the little people who can finally afford one that have no idea what the're getting into.
