Wow... even a 1/8 page ad is $500+.... they must be serious... $36,500 is a bit much but way cheaper than any that I have seen for sale otherwise. (Bill Riley tried selling a Evo VI for $45k)

If you contact EI about an Evo VI or TME, I'm thinking they could probably get one for you, altough at what cost is up in the air. Not 100% sure, but it'd be worth asking.

I read it in a major mag about the U.S. version being detuned to 250HP, if I'm not mistaken. Anyone here knows why it was detuned for the US mkt.?

Mitsu's only promise regarding power for the Evo8 (what the US is getting, along with the rest of the world, early next year) was "over 250 HP". The big enemies in the US are crappy fuel, stricter emissions, and crash ratings. The latter comes into play because the JDM and Euro versions had a large front mounted intercooler, which runs into some problems in the US 5mph front bumper tests. The fuel and emissions are obvious restrictions to power. So I'd expect to see 270-290 in Japan and Europe and 250-270 in the US becase of the aforementioned factors (just my opinion based on way too many rumors and the little info that Mitsu has given out).
That said, the engine is still a 4G63, and is tunable into the 350-400 hp range with relatively minor investments... if that's your sorta thing
