Default Legal New EVO VII's for $36,500!

http://www.evolutionimports.com/

Looks legit. Not sure when they will be selling them to the public though.?

I keep hearing all kinds of bullshit about the Mitsu version of the EVO VIII. Only time will tell what it actually is and how much power.

People are getting their Evo7s from EI soon. The company is indeed legit, and the cars are (or rather will be) street legal US vehicles.

I'm waiting for the VIII to see what mistu gives us. This might be a viable option if Mitsu nerfs the VIII too much.

Evolution Imports. Based in Sanford, FL and the alterations are being done somewhere in SoCal as the cars come off the boat.

I get a bunch of british car mags, and from what they say, the EVO is exactly my kind of car. There are several versions: the standard EVO VII, the FQ-300 (upgraded performance- 300+bhp), the RS Sprint (upgraded engine, lighter weight, stiffer suspension- 320bhp), and the Extreme (RS sprint taken even farther). Send me an RS Sprint pleeeeeaaase! I would take an extreme, but I dont have 40,000 pounds to drop on a mitsu.

There are actually a lot of them... but most of them are not street legal, rather they're set up for rally (full roll cage, gutted interiors, straight pipe exhaust, etc). Street legal Evos, probably fewer than 100 in the US, similar to what you'd find with Skyline GT-Rs. A couple companies bought some Euro spec Evo 6.5 (Tommi Makinen Edition) but not sure where those ended up as far as being street legal. EI has sold some Evo6s and TMEs, and is just beginning to sell the 7s.

$36500 for a legal JDM spec Evo7 is a relative bargain. 275-300 hp (depending who you believe), full boost by 3000 RPM, a disgustingly flat torque curve from 3000 - 7000 RPM, and you can fairly easily tune the engine into the 400 hp range. Add in the active center diff, active yaw control, recaro buckets, monster Brembo brakes, and other goodies and you've got one sweet ride. Lots of power driving one of the best AWD systems available and weighing in at under 3000 lbs.... An Evo7 would put an S2000 to shame, any time any place.

The only thing I don't know about is insurance. Not sure if you'd try to insure it as a Lancer with $15k of accessories, or what...
