According to this site: fleetrates.com leasing a NSX is even cheaper. As for the vette, it seem you can buy the car and have the same payments. Doesn't look right to me.

Did you actually read the fine print for that offer? It's not 12k miles a year, it's 7500. The net cap cost is $80,943.42...not the full MSRP. If the Vette sold at a $9k discount and the lease was 7500 miles a year I'm sure it would be much cheaper also. Compare Apples to Apples buddy, not oranges.
You are right. It is 7500 mile not 12,000. Well lets add 4500 miles a year X 3 years = 13500 miles over lease @ $0.15 a mile = $2025 to the lease which in turn equals an extra $56.25 a month.

Oh and they are selling the car for 9 grand off.

Which brings us right back to my reiterated original question.

Why can I pay $910.25mth for a $80k NSX and $1003mth for a $52k Vette?

Because no one wants to drive a car designed in the 80's that was last updated for all practical purposes in the 90's and is an increasingly sad joke in terms of price to performance?

Now that your intentions are clear -- to be another fanboi bashing American cars -- go away.

Because MOST people like the new Corvette more than the old/new NSX. As 'cool' as the NSX WAS, I'd take a C6 Vert in a heartbeat of America for the same price as a new NSX.
I'm going to disagree. Where are you calculating this "MOST" figure from?

NSX "WAS cool"? IMO no Corvette design including the C6 has come anywhere near the NSX. The build quality of a 94 model is lightyears beyond an 04 C5 Z06 and it was built a decade prior. It would be plain ignorant by definition for anyone to choose an 05 C6 vert over an 05 NSX if they were both the same price. In 2015 you would be able to sell the 05 NSX for three times as much as the C6.

Not everyone buys a car for 0-60 figures and there's no way to argue that a Chevy is better built than Honda's flagship.

To the thread creator...this is a no brainer...NSX without hesitation.

really, have you ever priced used corvettes? They're not cheap.
They're beyond cheap because of the huge supply right now and very little demand.

The invoice price on an 02-03 Z06 was around $45k before TT&L and now trade in on an 02 is around $28k.

$20k hit in just three measly years? Sure glad I didn't buy one.

I'd be out a whole $8k right now if I sold my S and I'll have owned it three years come December.

Just take a little look at sales figures and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Design is subjective. I think the C5 and C6 look 'better' than the NSX. The NSX is a classic design, but it still looks like it was penned in the 80's, oops, it was penned in the 80's.

Build quality, whatever...Just because a trim piece has prettier plastic doesn't make it better built. The NSX is plain jane and has no electronics, so less little things will fail over time, but that doesn't make it better.

As far as resale, check this out. I bought my C5 in August of 2000 for $42k. I sold it this past March for $26k cash with 42,000 miles on it. Hmm, 61% value retention after 4.5 years and 42k HARD miles. Not too shabby. Your mileage may vary...

how many times has the NSX won a COTY award, again? The C5 held it for several years, and probably will get it again as a C6.

Actually, I am worse than a fanboy, I am a prospective car lessee (lessor) and I am pricing out a car for this spring. The s2000 was my first and only honda. I have had five american cars and two japanese. I was looking at the mustang, corvette, s2000 and now after seeing this deal, an nsx. However I have found out that it will cost me a lot more a month to lease the mustang or corvette and there is really no good reason why.

It has made the cars I really wanted, not worth it.

I expected the vette payment to be ~$700mth and I expected the mustang to be ~ $400 and they are $300 and $200 more a month respectively.

Why do I want to lease? Because I own 2 other cars, better cars are coming out all the time, I don't want to deal with selling, I'll be at the correct mileage, and putting cash into something that is constantly losing value isn't a great idea unless you are going to keep the car for a long time.

That said, the only thing I know about the NSX is that it turns heads and performs admirably and that for $900mth, sounded like a better deal than $1000 for a corvette.

I'll say it right here, the C6 is a better car than the NSX. Done. I thought the NSX was kind of exotic, if for no other reason than the price, and it would be fun to have something not many other people have.

So Steve C, you can go nuts arguing about whats better and what magazine said this and that because I really don't care. I wanted to know why the cars are so much more to lease. Thats it. I just want a fun car for the spring. If no one wants a car designed in the 80's that was last updated in the 90's why are people arguing about it? Why are you wasting your time reading posts about it? Why don't you go away?
