Default Land Rover Range Rover questions

Anything to look out for in a 2003-2004 Range Rover? My girlfriend is about to pick one up and any information would be appreciated. Is there one main forum dedicated to this model as well?

I don't know of any specific range rover forums, but just google something and I"m sure it'll come up.

From what I've heard, 03 is the year to stay away from (first year of the new/current bodystyle I believe).

From what I've heard, any year is the year to stay away from. All LR finish near the bottom of most quality/reliability rankings. But that said, they're great looking SUVs. They often feel a little utilitarian inside (not cheap, just non-stylish).

Yeah, stay away from that year range. My uncle has one and he hates it. The LR3's aren't bad.

I love them too. But lots of diff / engine / tranny replacements.

I'd buy an extended warranty if anyone will supply one.

Warrantydirect doesn't even have a plan for Rovers if that tells you anything....

Engine replacements? I'm surprised. It was just a 4.4L BMW V8 in the '03, wasn't it? And then they switched it to the 4.XL Jag engine? I wasn't aware either of those engines had significant problems.

We had a 04 Range Rover and it caught on fire while my mom was driving it. Needless to say, it was totalled.

Also, the service department at the Land Rover dealership was absolutely horrid.
