Default knowledgeable friends - boxster facelift for 2004?

Hey, I know this is the S2000 board, but... A buddy of mine wants a boxster S (I know, I tried, but he has his mind made up). He heard that there may be a facelift for the 2004 model year. I haven't read this anywhere (R&T, C&D, AW), but sometimes I can't keep up with all the reading - this "work" stuff gets in the way. Being that this group is probably the most roadster-smart bunch of people I know, has anyone else heard or read this? If so, he waits until Oct 03 for an 04. If not, he gets an 03 now and we get to race all summer.
Thanks - Mike

Nobody but the folks at Porsche knows for sure but S2KRob is correct in that the car just had a minor refresh for MY2003 so it is unlikely that it will be refreshed again for MY2004

I hope they make it such that "in silouette", you can tell which way it's facing. Can't tell the front from the back. I'd hate to drag race one someday and the both of us take off in opposite directions.

ps. Shouldn't this thread belong in "Car Talk"?

xviper,

That design of the Boxter is intentional. Rear-engine cars get pointed the wrong way fairly easily and the Boxter's shape can save the driver a great deal of embarassment since nobody is likely to notice.

As others mentioned, it was just "freshened" this year. So not likely that they'd redo for next year. Though I certainly am not privy to Porsche's biz trategy. Here are some of the rumors you may have been referring to:

Hehe,

Actually next gen Boxster may take its styling cues from the Carrera GT, not the 911.
