I keep asking the valet to bring my wife's Maserati around and a Subaru Legacy keeps showing up!

Since you're official now, let me ask - what do you do if you find a non-valeted car in a valet parking spot in the garage?

Hope they didn't wreck into a car on the way in and hope they don't wreck into a car on the way out. I always told my manager and he notified security but I never saw anyone get towed.

Valet is a perfect job for someone who loves cars. I worked at a local casino for a little while and generally loved it. The only part was deadbeat tippers and driving their crap cars.

Thank you for taking care of my car George.

Depends on the hotel/property. We're not allowed to let anyone self park. It's a liability thing, if said person dings a ferrari door then who's going to be blamed and who's paying for it? Ferrari owner will come to us first before we suspect someone parking in our lots on their own.

Where I work, the most you're allowed to pull up to is our ramp. Once there I take over, or someone else who knows how to drive stick will take over from there. I'm always careful with manuals, I don't know how the clutches feel so I'm slow on the car. Some of the guys will romp on the car in first or second.

I deal with this almost daily.
Some I catch and nicely ask to leave our parking lot and/or garage. This one guy sits in our lot for two hours waiting for his kids to finish playing tennis or something. I asked him once to leave a parking spot while we were getting hammered by people going to the restaurant. He complied, but blocked the exit. I had to ask again but not without being yelled at about he was tired and how he was "allowed" to be there because his kid played tennis at the hotel. Told him to see my manager, even game him my managers name and where to find him.

But if the car is just chilling in our garage or lot I usually let my managers know and they tell security. Not sure about towing though.

I don't trust family to drive my car, not going to have a stranger.
It would a shame someone hurt your Dodge rental car, I'd imagine rear-ending someone in it would cause damage in the tens, possible hundreds if they really hit something hard

I don't understand why anyone who likes their car would valet it? If anything (and if it's possible), pay a bit more to the valet to leave it up front so they don't move it.

I do like that cars are coming with 'valet' options:

When will you come out to the race track and bring your 4 door daily driver with you?

If I saw someone romp on my car, regardless of manual, sports car, or family car; I'd raise hell right away. Valet is not fun and games. I use to work a big night club in Boston. Valet would screw up cars all the time. Even if they were parked out front. Customer had zero recourse on damage. I once saw damage on a Ferrari 512TR. Valet say on damage "Was there when we parked it..."

^^ that is often true. It's hard to truly hold of ballet company responsible for the car. It's a little easier if it's a hotel but that's the reason why I wouldn't have a valet touch my car.
