Look nationally and have the car shipped back. Make a deal with the seller that you will pay for a PPI and if you buy the car, he'll reduce that cost towards the sale price. If he is hesitant to do so, say "I am shipping the car out of state and whatever Lemon Laws there are, I won't be able to take advantage of them." Knowing the seller is off the hook for warrantying the car is certainly worth $200.

My last three cars were all bought this way and I never had a surprise once I received the car. Don't look for the best deal, but rather the best example for a reasonable price.

I took the car back today and got my money back. I did find this one for sale locally:

It looks pretty good, but the front bumper seems to be a bit misaligned. Is this a fixable problem? The rest of the panels fit well so I'm assuming the bumper was repainted at some point. I plan to have a private inspection done on Monday and it felt good on the test drive. Unfortunately I don't have the time to travel further than about 2 hours to find a car and I don't really like the idea of purchasing one without being able to test drive it.

Just keep in mind you're looking at a 13 year old car. I bought mine with a said budget and knew going in it wasn't going to be an 09 CR. I did drive quite a few until I found the right one and got a very below market price, although it took some negotiation. The next time you drive one, try shifting above 4.5k rpm. When my brother drove mine, he complained about gear notching, I asked what does it his 350z redline at and what does mine redline at. Now add that difference to your normal shift points and see what happens. Loans behold, smooth engagement.
