My 79 is stock for the moment. I have been considering a GM ZZ383 and a 4 speed automatic. I really like the styling but the car could use more power and more highway friendly gearing.
I have not made up my mind if I will mod this car or not. I am the second owner and the car only has 30k miles.

My uncle, recently deceased, used to restore Vettes, especially the C3s.
His last project was a 72 LT-1 4-speed with factory A/C. Very rare car. That thing was a beast. I was going to inherit it, until my other uncle decided that he wanted it.
Honestly, that probably would have been too much of a project to keep running for me. But, it was a sweet car. When my uncle gets tired of it, I may get another shot at it...

Nope car was pretty low mileage, still running like a champ, once it starts to give us trouble, its coming out completely and in will go some sort of fuel injected V8 (not sure which/what yet)

Not a fan of the sidepipes, and I have a 454 in my 70 vette and really, if you can avoid a bigblock then you are ahead of the game. Small blocks (especially the new LS motor) can make HUGE power, bigblocks can be a pain at times, heat, no room, everything is more pricey. BUT, the car looks great, the inspiration looks good too, although the 17s on it don't work for me, on an old car I like tall sidewalls. Check out composiste rear springs, or better yet, buy a fully engineered kit for the springs and shocks, but nothing too stiff, on mine I can already feel the paint on the road. I like the old 'Baldwin Motion' hoods a lot, they are standard 454 hoods with a 67 stinger grafted on them. you can fit a nice intake under them.
Congrats and good luck.
mine.
