Not a fan of the Si at all. I think the fact that it's a Honda Si, gives it a huge leg up. Take away the name plate and it'll definitely be taken down a few rungs.
The Focus SVT was a much better car as is the new MS3. Cobalt SS isn't a bad driver, I'd say on par overall with the Si.

Mazda3 in general is the one to beat in the segment. The MS3 just raised the bar at the upper end. The Si is an excellent, well balanced ride, but for the money, I think I'd pick up a leftover RSX-S with the hefty discount.
Another option for me would be the GTi. And if Ford actually still sold the SVT (Or even better would be a new one ) I'd probably give that a shot as well.
Wouldn't touch a GM though, no way.
