I had one twice way back when it was called a CJ5. It was orange with the Levi package, 304 V8 4sp. The thing was a blast to drive off road and fairly fun on road. A few months after I sold it the new owner traded it back to me for a pick-up at a big loss. He had added a lift kit, bigger wheels and tires, headers and "burn your legs" sidepipes. It was even more fun to drive and the sidepipes made more noise the tires.

I had a 1988 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, bought new in 1988. Aside from my Fiat X-1/9 (which was the worst car ever produced) my Wrangle was he worst car I ever owned. Out of fairness, mine was one of the last years made by the old American Motors Corporation where there was no such thing as quality control, but even then, it was worse than it had any right to be. I used to leave it garaged at our weekend house in Woodstock, NY, and I only put about 3,500 miles on it a year, so I was able to keep it for 10 trouble filled years, but it was really junk.

I'd always wanted to own a Jeep, now that I have, I don't want to anymore.

i had a 1979 Levi CJ5 also. Mine was baby blue with 3 speed....I can't remember if I had a V8 or the straight 6.?

I do remember all of the smog stuff was off of mine and anytime I drove it I would smell like exhaust. I didn't keep it long. I did take it 4x4'ing to help bump my first son out of my wife's belly though.
