Jaguar F-Type

It comes with 340 hp from the factory, but weighs 3,500 lb, so I'd guess it will perform close to a Boxster S and be priced comparably if said Porsche has a few factory options.
Sure you can price an F-Type to $100k, but the only ad-on I'd want would be the $600 heated seats. To get heated seats on a Boxster S, you have to add $4k in options and buy a $67k car.
So, $67k for a Boxster S with heated seats, $70k for an F-Type - not so different then.

There was another thread about what cars we invision ourselves owning in 4-5 years. Many posted an Aston Martin. Aston is never going to win a track event, but everyone seems to want one. Unless you've been karting since a child, the difference in .5 seconds is really meaningless for real world driving. Too many get caught up on stats and miss the forest for the trees.
I was all set to disagree with... but I've got nothing. That actually makes a lot of sense.
I wanted to say, "Oh yeah, well, the Aston Martin is different because...," but I couldn't. It's weird and largely illogical why I think that owning an Aston would be somehow make me more of a car guy than owning this, and that really makes no sense. Hmmm.

Enh who am I kidding. I would buy a GTR all day long before even walking into the Jag dealer. Its a nice pretty car but the price is really what kills it for me. There are plenty of cars that are much more car for that money.

Someone buying an F-type has little interest in a GTR. Porsche, Aston, Vette, and Viper are the competition. GTR is not even a consideration to that buyer.
Did you watch the Jay Leno review on the F-type? I think he really nailed what the car is about.
