Post Its been a while, sold the S and moved to M

Let me just say I miss the S alot!!! everyone here is a lucky sob for owning one.

I initially wanted a DD that has enough space for everything. 4 doors so i dont have to fit ppl behind me everytime, enough trunk for camping and my ladies shopping, but when a curvy road appear in front of me I can have a race-like sprited drive and feel little of what S has given me before.

I cross shopped many cars but I at the end I crossed out all new cars. I didnt want any car payment.

So I came across E39 M5.... my old dream car..... the car I almost forgot about until I saw it again on the road. So I did much research, almost 3 month of finding out everything about it. Test drove couple local ones and fell in love witht the torque and the handling. I also loved the heritage and the community. Before I knew it I was already biased and wanted the car more and more so I said what the hell I will get it and if its not to my liking, I can always sell it.

I guess I should do a short review.

The engine is a big breather. It has a 5.0 liter V8 producing 400 horses. Braking is superb, handling is pretty good for the weight of the car. Shiting is a joy, shifter is not on par with honda but I do like the clutch feel better than the S. The grunt of the V8 is what I love the most. The deep growl always reminds me what I have under the hood, and the high reving V8 comes alive upon push of the sport button and stepping on the trottle and before I know it im in triple digits. After all these goodies there is luxury upon luxury to enjoy. Leather seats with heat, great stereo, park distance control, rear shade, auto wiper, and compliments from ppl in the back seat how comfortable and roomy it is.

ok that is the review, I drove it for about 2k miles. Planning on doing some preventive maintenance on it so I can have her without any problems. Mods will follow, mostly just suspension coilover and bigger rims and tires for better handling. I am quite satified with the power it already has and the stock look is beautiful as is.

I miss this board

I dont have a current pic but I do have what I took when I first got it

Gorgeous car.
Always had a soft spot for the E39 M5s.
I, too, would love to get a decent condition one, but I'm afraid of the maintenance costs.
Enjoy your new ride!

Ah, the oh-so elusive E39 M5. Absolute monster. One of the most reserved-looking sedans considering what hides under the hood. Good choice, and good luck .

What a great car! I love them as well.. almost more than the E60.. I'd rock one for sure.

Just looked up prices and they're CHEAP! Wish I could have one as a DD

Prices are cheap, and maintenance cost might be alot lower than imagined.

This is def a saturday mechanic's car. As long as you know how to work on it a "little" you wont bring this to the dealer for service, and parts are affordable online.

I totally forgot they had 400hp under the hood. Purebred ponies at that.
