Hm, I thought the 2005 s2000 was 2.2 liters and would've been in the 2.0-2.5 l category.

Well, its not a big loss, a lot of HOnda engines got 1st on different categories.

I would be just as inclined to include the LS7 if they want to include the BMW V10. Without knowing the rules of the contest I really don't care much. As much as I like the S2000 motor I'm not sure I would pick it over the TSX/Euro Accord 2.4L. The TSX may not have as much power but it does get better mileage and it's very smooth.
Again, without knowing (or having read) how the pick the winners I really don't care too much.

Also, while displacement based breakdowns make sense in Europe and much of the world, they don't make much sense in the US where we don't tax engines on the rather artificial notion of displacement.

The 2.2 liter engine is only sold in North America. This award is given to the 2.0 liter (Actually 1997cc) F20C which is sold everywhere else in the world.

That's odd. Why do North Americans get a 2.2 liter engine that doesn't perform much different (C&D rates both s2000s 0-60 in 5.4 seconds I think). Shouldn't the American version be called teh S2200 then while the others would be called S2000?

I also question "best fuel economy." Why isn't the Insight on that list?

I believe people were complaining about having not enough torque...I read it somewhere..

Because Americans think torque is everything so Honda delivered (sort of).

The new Audi motor that won is a sweet piece of machinery. I haven't seen much on it but it is direct injection turbo which makes it the first production vehicle to do this with gasoline not diesel. It's replacing the 1.8T in the audis which was a strong motor that can make a lot of power when the boost gets cranked up.

BMW's V10 is a fitting winner, but where the hell is the 6.1l Hemi? That's a sweet motor.
