I remember a year back when my one good friend sold a beater car to my other friend and just to be a jackass he put on the title he sold it for $0.1 When he went up to transfer the titile the DMV just laughed at him and gave him crap about it.

 

Texas is adopting (or just adopted, not sure of eff. date) a FMV tax. Tax is computed based on their assessment of the FMV of the vehicle, so no more fudging on transaction values.

 

sales tax on used items that already paid sales tax for sucks. i was in hawaii and what they do is when you trade in a car, you only pay the difference in price of your trade up. that i think sort of make sense than california which you have to pay the whole amount.
