i'm gonna tell u before everyone starts bashing u for wanting a 600cc bike as a starter....get whatever u want. if u start with a 250, u'll probably want to trade up a few months later to a 600 anyway and it would end up being a waste of money unless u sell it for what u bought it for. take the MSF class, u'll learn the basics and then from there on it's just practice. i rode a gsx-r 600 for 3 weeks before it was stolen. 4 years later bought an R1 and i'm doing fine so far :uts on flamesuit:: i don't know how tall u are, but i could touch the floor on a gsx-r and an r-1 and i'm 5'9". sit on a bunch of bikes until you find the one that feels right.

Buell Blast offers something like 25.5 inch optional low seat. But if you're sitting on an R6 I doubt you'll dig a Blast, even if it is more appropriate to a bike-noob.
Check out tall shoes and the scoop on lowering links or "dog bones" for the bike you're interested in.

Drop the bike in the dealers lot, ON BOTH SIDES, get it over with early 'cuz it's gonna' happen and it's gonna' hurt $$$$.

why not just go to the webistes, kawasaki.com suzuki.com honda.com yamaha-motor.com ducati.com etc. and look at the specs and see which one has the lowest seat height, and which one you like the looks of and then find a dealer to go look at them.
does anybody do any research on products anymore?

there is no reason to touch the ground and when you stop get used to slightly flop the bike L/R so your leg reaches the ground.
the only requirement on a first bike is its used with scratches, because you will put more scratches in it before your done. buy a 1000 whatever.

This is good, as CarlosS2k said, people flaming already. Exactly what he said...get what you like b/c you will want to trade up a few months later. I think bike choice is important but mindset is more important. Dont get cocky, dont override your limits and enjoy a 600 as your first bike if it what you want. That said, it sounds like to stay in your limits try going to many dealers and find a bike you fit on. There are a lot of options in that class from a triumph, the Jap bikes, Buells, etc. Dont know where in Del Val you are, but there are dealers that carry all brands like Martin Moto in boyertown i think now, among others. oh yeah, take the MSF so if you have to get dropping a bike out of your system you dont drop yours.
