[QUOTE=s2kpdx01,Aug 20 2006, 07:59 AM] if you pay that much see if you can get the dealer or owner to buy you an extended warranty to at least 100k miles.

[QUOTE=S2kracka,Aug 20 2006, 06:53 AM] I say it depends on the condition of the car, but if its really nice and clean and well maintained I say thats a decent deal.

Too high for that amount of miles unless there are some serious mods on the car.

No MODS. All stock.

KBB still has this car value at $20,300 Retail. $18,100 Private.
Dealership selling for: $18,000

How low should I get the dealership to lower the price.

Any ideas or tips for me on how to negotiate with salesman.

I kicked around the idea of selling mine, a 2001 to upgrade to an 04 or newer. My 2001 does not have the improved top and ecu of a 2002 and I would have posted mine in the paper for $18k firm, but I think I still have less than 30K on my car.

I even think I'd go lower than $17. WHy? Because it too easy to get really low milage examples for the same, or find similar milage for less.

Send the salesman an email with your offer and to call you back to put in an offer. Have him fax you something that says you have the car for that amount. I find putting a deposit on credit card much easier than cash if the deal goes sour.

You can walk in there with your check book and just tell them what you want to pay and be ready to walk away. If you are not trading in a car, they should bite if they are not upside down on your offer. Trade-in's kill your negotiating power.

Most of all, do not be affraid to walk away, there's more than one used s2000 out there. If you could wait until March, I will be trading in my 03 S2000 with from a lease with 35k and I think my buyout is 18K. My car is absolutely mint and you could take that one... Maybe this car is on the high price side?

I won't be doing any trade-ins but I will plan to finance the car. I might offer them 16,000 for the car itself before license and regs. or pay around 17k or up and try to get the extended warrenty free to go with it. How does that sound. I know there's alot of S out there that I can check out but most of the 03 S I see for sell are still up in the 22-23,000 range. I can't afford that much.
