Wow...the general consensus thus far says:

Boxster S or Spyder (although Spyder is in a different price bracket)
Z4 M or 135i
C6 gets a few votes (I'm not really a 'vette fan)
Lotus Elise SC or Exige also gets some votes

All these options really highlight how there is no competition for the S2000! They all cost at least $10K more! And they're more expensive to maintain.

Lately, I've been having a severe case of "Mr. El Cheapo". Maybe I should just get a NA Miata, mod it, and spend my money on tires and track time!

If I only had my current funds now, I would either build up a Miata or a 240/260Z. If it was when I graduate college and I have a career with actual money, C6

well, they're all faster than an s2k and/or from premium nameplates, so you sort of get what you pay for.

For me it would be the Boxster Spyder or Cayman as my first choice but a 08 or 09 C6 6M Z51 is the car that would actually be the most likely to get my money. I wasn't a huge fan until I spent a week driving one. I was simply amazed at how good it was.

prius. all these cars are similar to the S but worse in some way. so logic would dictate that you are looking for something opposite if u sold the S.

I WOULDN'T sell my S2000.

It's a driving enthusiast's classic that I have had for over six years. I am keeping it until I am ready to pass ownership to my kids.
