save up and buy a house.
as for car, get something cheap, the rookie mistake is pissing away money the moment you get it.

Eleven years into my career, while my income's steadily growing, the amount of money I spend on cars is steadily decreasing as I save more and find other things more worthy of my hard-earned dollars.

as a rule of thumb, you should not spend more than 10% of your monthly on car payments, so 6000*.10=$600. so buy whatever you can afford to buy with this in mind.

Only if you're slow

It seems like you get paid 100k after 4-5 years of exp, but that may just be me. 1st year out of school start around 60, so a 40K jump after 2 years is pretty damn significant even if you large bonus opps.
Principals are a different story since a lions share of their pay is primiarily determined on their sales goals, and this year hasn't been too kind for many in the consulting side. But overall, not really expecting any type of drastic pay increase at least in the short term.
Back to OP - don't buy a car for at least a couple of months. I think it takes a couple months of purchases and expenses to see how much you really need your desired lifestyle.

would you get $900 a month more enjoyment out of a GT-R or 911 than you would out of a used S2000?

I'm actually not very arrogant in person. Just pushing buttons on an internet forum for fun - sorry if this upset you...
