Default If you could choose: AP2 S2000 vs E36 M3

I currently drive an E46 325i. And an E30 on the weekends.

I want to upgrade to something more powerful and with 3 pedals

like it says:

Here's what i have

Honda S2000:
Pro:
  • Most AP2's have 20-40k miles
  • 6-speed
  • I'm at the age where practicality doesn't matter
  • Convertible in California weather
  • Perfect 50-50 wieght distrubtion.
  • light wieght
  • great HP vs Liter
  • amazing shifting
  • HIDs stock
  • MPG is decent
  • Honda reliability
  • top drops quickly
  • Great engine (ceramic coated cylinder walls, forged aluminum Pistons, higher flowing head than most etc)
Con:
  • No torque at low RPMs
  • Not a huge fan of verts.
  • Some parts are expensive
  • Insurance is worse
  • 2 seater (impractical, especially when transporting tires/wheels to and from the track)

E36 M3
Pro:
  • Costs less than AP2
  • I would get a sedan, and i <3 sedans
  • Cheaper insurance
  • Great handling/styling
  • Classic BMW
  • Plenty of interior room
  • I don't have to buy Kosei's haha
  • Better exhaust note than the S2000
Con:
  • Used E36s usually have 100k+ miles
  • It's an old car (problems)
  • Everybody and their grandmother's have them
  • Clean ones with low miles are rare
  • 5-speed
  • Maint and parts are $$$

Thats all I have, help me add more to all 4 catagories.

But at the present moment, I'm leaning more towards an AP2.

Thanks,

-Brandon

It sounds like you would "fit in" with the BMW "crowd" better.

Possibly becuase i'm already in it?

I have plenty of Japanese and American car friends and i respect Japanese and American cars as much as i do Euro's.

I'm not a "euro" fanboy.

I forgot to mention.

I have test driven both, and the AP2 was definetly better.

All my Euro friends told me to go S2k and even some are ditching their Euros for S2000s.

Since you put Honda name vs bmw name as a con, I would say go with the bmw.

I can't either. You should get the M3.
