I'd like to add an E39 5-series to my short list.
I think if I didn't spend the $ on the S2k, I'd probably be in the E39 M5.

What the heck? You're one of the smartest guys on the forum. Would + Have = "Would've"... not "Would Of". ;-)

To me the comparison between the S2000 and 350Z has always been obvious. When they first came out they had almost identical price tags and performance numbers. How is that not obvious to most people?

However I never considered one due to the weight, styling and build quality.

Exactly why I think the comparison is odd.

One of the Nissan Z.. I'm a big z31 (original 300) fan or one of the L series (240, 260, 280).. Maybe could have afforded both a Z (Z33) and a 280 w/ an ls1 conversion....

Understandable point of view from a knowledgeable sports car expert. But for the average joe schmoe that just wants a fast sports car for $30k (and doesn't plan on tracking it) all they will look at are the numbers. And for the price point they're very similar.

Dunno what I would drive. Sw20 MR2 Turbo maybe, Miata perhaps, Boxster. Probably one of those three.

Ariel Atom, it will be next on my progression of cars.

1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo ---> Buy 2002 Ford Escape as daily ---> Sell Escape ---> Buy 2010 Ford Focus ---> Sell MR2 ---> Bought s2000 (next will be Ariel)
