Seems like a lot of Z people. Any particular reason?
Because Miatas are gay.

Iconic car with huge history. RWD, affordable, available, good looking and huge aftermarket. I've always been a fan of S30s, late Z31s and Z32s. Z33/34 has their own appeal as well. Its easily the most successful sports car to come from Japan.
Regardless of what you think about Miatas, I don't know how any other Japanese sports car could be reasonably considered more successful.

Hm, I had the Pilot at the same time, so prob. would have just kept that and saved up for a 911 or E55 AMG.

I agree. When the convertible was considered dead, Mazda took a risk and brought it back. And after about 800k Miatas I think it's evident the Miata is the most successful sports car to come from the Japan.

either a 350z or e46 m3, maybe even a RB-swapped 240sx... But definitely RWD!

1970 Corvette. Oh wait..

Probably Boxster or 350Z (or 370 or 390, whatever they are up to now)

For me it would have been a Boxster S fer sure. My short list when I bought the S2000 included the Miata, Exige, and Boxster. The 350Z at the time was ugly inside and out. The Miata was a real contender (love that car) but the power/torque made me falter. The Exige looked great on paper and sitting in the parking lot but behind the wheel I felt like I was in a kit car. Should come with a label...Track Use Only. Decided I couldn't live with the noise and interior. That left the Porsche and the Honda. The S2K won in part on price, in part because a friend with one had been trying to get me into one for years, and in part because I knew it would be my last chance to buy a factory new example of a truly great roadster. But the Porsche was no doubt the "better" car. More power, more polish, and more space. But more pricey too.
