If the S2000 didn't exist, what car would you get?

Looked at the Z, did not care for it.
I think I would get a Boxster S or Elise. Love the looks of the Cayman but would miss the top down.

Car shopping these past 3 years have been rough. I've always considered an older NSX and newer S2000 as my first tier choices with the STI and Evo being distant AWD alternatives. I actually ended up with a Caterham, followed by an ITR, followed by an FD.
But my lust for the NSX and S2000 hasn't subsided yet so one day I'll own both those cars. I'll get around to it, eventually...

350z, rx-8,sti, and evo
the Z i didn't get because i couldn't find a decent used one with reasonable miles/price in a manual. evo/sti - i didn't want a used one, so much much more expensive new than the other options used. Probably would have ended up with the RX8, since the handling is what I like most about the S and they're *all* manuals.

LS2 GTO, Boxster S, older M Coupe, STi (I looked at Evos too but liked the Subaru more and still don't know why, even if it is slower), Audi S4. I narrowed it down to the GTO and S2000 after driving them all, extremely different cars. M Coupes were too hard to find, the S4 wasn't as much fun as the STi. I was afraid of the maintenance on the Porsche. The STi felt too cheap but was great fun. I may still get a GTO or STi.
