If I was going to buy a Supra, I'd just get the Z4.

I prefer the looks of 124 over the Miata.

I could also say "If I was going to buy a Z4, I'd just get the M2". I think my statement even makes more sense, since those two in manual version are pretty similar in price range.

People who shopped for Supra had less expectation for luxury stuff (I know I did). In fact, it was the exact opposite for me, I wanted as less stuff as possible, all those years with an S2K really made me appreciate things that are simple and purposeful to use.

Anyways, I just think the author kind of misinterpreted the purpose of the Supra. It wasn't made to be compared to its twin Z4. They target two different audiences, both want different things. Kind of like when someone just drove a FL5 CTR and a DE5 ITS back to back, and started bashing the CTR for less luxury stuff.

^I felt that way back when the Supra came out (and was unavailable with a manual). Back then the M2 wasn't an ugly overweight piggy. Amazing how times change.

I can't personally attest to this, but all the reviews of the Toyota Supra manual say that they got rid of the typical BMW rubbery feel. And as far as I know, that's the main gripe with BMW manuals.

^Yup the shifter feeling is not bad at all, doesn't feel rubbery to me. Not as mechanical when it gets into gear like the S2K, but it certainly feels solid. The only thing I really miss is the ability to swap out shift knob like I could with the S2K. I really wanted a metal shift knob, but no easy way to do it w/o cutting the OEM boot + a bunch of aftermarket adapters.
