If I was going to buy a Supra, I'd just get the Z4.

Pretty good article on which is really the better car imo.

Also highlights how BMW shot itself in the foot by being overshadowed by Supra hype.

I think MY2025 may be it for the Supra anyhow. It’s on its way out.

So, my controller has a new Z4 40i or whatever with the B58. I drove it Friday for the first time. Of course, the B58 sounds great, very solid power, great shifting with the ZF 8-speed auto. Handling was good, felt nice. BUT, tire noise sucked, like it was bad. Not sure if tire brand or what? Then, there was a light creak on the power top right above the drivers head. So, both of those things made me kind of 'meh' on the car overall. Again, looks great (black/black), sounds the business, nice interior, etc. But....just wasn't feeling it a whole lot personally. Also, interior is small obviously, but comfy enough for two people, I suppose, with all the power adjustments on the seats.

I'd much rather have the Supra. Doubly so as you can spec it with 3 pedals now.

Honestly other than the first Z4, the rest have just been automotive enthusiast footnotes (hardly anyone cares).

If I could get one our our local dealers to stock a 3 pedal Supra, I'm fairly certain my wife would go for it. I borrowed an automatic from work for about a week and she loved it but she said she wouldn't even consider replacing her ND RF with an automatic. It is a quick car.

I think the Z4 is kind of funky looking. Not in a good way. If I had to pick between them (not considering price, just "would you rather?") I would take the Z4 just for the open top now that they offer a stick. I already have a two seat hardtop that I am keeping, so I would need something different.

Plus the Z4 fits better with my balding, aging, uncool yuppie image I am cultivating.

The Z4 looks like on oversized Fiat 124 to me, and I would also take it over a Supra for the open top.

I'm not racing my cars, and have no desire for a tin-top when I can have a convertible or at least a moon roof I can open.

ehh modern BMW manual's aren't that great until you modify them substantially (AutoSolutions).

Looking like a 124 would be a complete downside to me. I am one who thinks "oh look, someone ruined a miata" when I see those I just cannot warm up to those looks. Some of my friends agree, some think we are crazy!

Quick Reply: If I was going to buy a Supra, I'd just get the Z4.
