idea for car invention
dont dismiss it so quickly.
imagine you have a corolla or some other car that sounds horrible. there's a mic in the engine bay, picks up the sounds and translates it on pre-determined octaves to sound like ferrari revs. then outputs it to the car's internal stereo system. there would be a switch so you could turn it on and off.
flame on, but u can't deny that u might get one

I don't like false sound.
Although you might argue that a muffler creates a slightly false sound, it's actually real sound coming from my engine that is being distorted and twisted to sound pleasing.
It just sounds like something a ricer would do. Like playing BOV sounds out of your stereo while you floor it.

Actually, I was thinking of somethng similar, but it would be true sound. Put a mic inside the stock intake box and a speaker somewhere in the engine bay that lets you magnify the intake sound. You could adjust its volume or switch it off if need be.
I'm trying to remember what auto manufacturers have done this before - added speakers to pipe the car's mechanical sound into the cabin and such...
