I wonder how much HP the '06 will end up with?
This came up today:
From: Dick Colliver
The horsepower ratings that Acura and most of the auto industry use are based upon standards issued by the society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Recently, SAE revised their standard for measuring horsepower and torque. The revised standard "SAE J1349 (Rev 8/04)" for measuring horsepower and torque reflects a number of significant differences with the old measurements. In almost all cases, the new measurement will show a lower but more consistent horsepower rating.
Beginning with the 2006 model year, all horsepower ratings from Acura will be based on the new standard. Previously all horsepower ratings were referred to as "SAE Net". In order to clearly distinguish new ratings from old, we will now reference horsepower as "SAE net (Rev 8/04)".
To reduce customer confusion, Acura chose to proactively adopt these new testing methods and apply them to all 2006 automobile products at the same time (fall 2005 for the 2006 model year).
We appreciate your support in communicating this change and the reason for the change, to key members of your organization, particularly your sales staff.

Not really sure why Honda would retroactively re-rate existing models. The new SAE ratings standard is optional for existing auto models... In my experience Honda tends to overrate their power output. So if the new tests are more accurate, they could "lose" some power.

I'd be surprised if the hp rating for the S was restated using the new standard without any significant changes to the engine.

Interesting ... I was going to say "240" from the original title of your post until I read the body ...
I wonder what they mean about a more consistent horsepower rating? Is the number based off a range of horsepower instead of just the peak numbers, or is it different? I don't understand how the current numbers are not consistent, unless they mean from vehicle to vehicle in the same model that the horsepower is not consistent across the board (Like how some people get a 'factory freak') ?
