It will sell. People these days like to buy cars for the name brands that they can make monthly payments. I don't think many buy them for the performance. That's why these entry models from BMW, Mercedes will sell to these type of buyers.

That's the 2012 1-Series hatchback and we probably won't get it in the USA/Canada. However, the front end will be the same for the 1-Series we get, I'm sure (they always shared the front end before).
I really liked the current-generation 1-Series hatchback when I saw it in Argentina. With the right wheel package, it looked pretty cool to me. This new one looks horrendous.

At first I was upset that we still won't be getting the hatch, but after seeing it I'm kind of fine with it, really. And this is coming from someone who has always liked the 1er's designs.
