I don't know why people are putting down the Vette. I think it is a better car, if you like it and want to spend the money, go for it.

That does not mean I think the S2000 is a pile of crap either but they are not in the same league. I did a little race with a guy in a somewhat modified C5 (don't know what he had besides a loud exhaust) and even in second gear VTEC I don't know if I have ever been reeled in so fast. It has power in a completely different class.

Although the brute force does not appeal to me the way it used to. I think if I was going to drop mid forties on a car I would buy and Elise, but that is my preference.

It's a nice car - no question about it....hey if you can afford it why ask us, just go buy it! No arguments from me - I test drove it a few weeks ago (new Z06) and I was tempted too!

Only thing I wanted would be a convertible version

The s2000 can't really match the Vette in any category so those of you who say don't buy it I don't understand why???

Only downfalls is:

1) It's price is higher

2) No drop top cruising

3) Bigger car overall

As for buying a Chevy, Corvette owners do not consider themselves owning a Chevy, it's a Corvette! Quality is plastic if you compare it to say a Porsche but S2000 is about the same in terms of plastic, etc...

Insurance is actually cheaper for me in the Z06 amazingly! But I love my s2000 so no thanks

How much crack do you have to sell to be able to buy a new turbo 997? Seriously, what
do you do for a living man?

This is probably going to be my last mid-life crisis toy before the wedding/baby thing so figured we have to enjoy ourselves a bit! You only live once right

g/f will eventually take over the s2000 as her "fun" car so she gave me the ok to get the Turbo. Car is scheduled to arrive around July/Aug. and I have the first allocation in town. I can't wait to drive that car - my first P-car!

Say what you will against the Vette, but as a person who has been tracking my cars ('87 CRX-Si, '90 CRX-Si, '02 S2000) for 16 years I suspect in 5 years or so when I'm ready to retire the S I'll be looking to buy a used C6 as my next track car. Lots of my friends question my sanity, but I suspect I will be able to get a better deal on a used C6 than I will on a used BMW Z4 M Coupe.

If ya want the Vette, buy the Vette. Then just join a Vette forum and let all those people put down the S2000...

If you are interested in a review of the two cars (S2k and C6 vert) you can check here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=270410&st=0

I'd like to think I was pretty unbiased (or at least I stated my bias). However, you can make your own assessment.

LOL...I couldn't even read this whole thread it cracked me up so much. I'm amazed at some of the derogatory comments towards the vette. What a phenomenal bang for your buck sports car the C6 is. It's about the same price as the C5 but with bolt ons the C6 is in supercar territory. It will dominate the S2000 in just about every measurable performance category even those 'magical' ones running around out there. The C6 interior is much improved and while I still feel it's subpar for the price the overall value of the car is such that I would overlook the interior for the performance value. I had the opportunity to play with a new Z06 in traffic the other day in my M3 and it was of only a couple of occassions that I lost in humiliating fashion. He might as well been on a litre bike....
