I just drove a 'vette!

But if I supercharge my S, it's $1000 for clutch/flywheel, $6500 for supercharger, $1500 for gears, that's the same $$$ as the difference between the 'vette and my car.

It's a nice car - no question about it....hey if you can afford it why ask us, just go buy it! No arguments from me - I test drove it a few weeks ago (new Z06) and I was tempted too!
Only thing I wanted would be a convertible version
The s2000 can't really match the Vette in any category so those of you who say don't buy it I don't understand why???
Only downfalls is:
1) It's price is higher
2) No drop top cruising
3) Bigger car overall
As for buying a Chevy, Corvette owners do not consider themselves owning a Chevy, it's a Corvette! Quality is plastic if you compare it to say a Porsche but S2000 is about the same in terms of plastic, etc...
Insurance is actually cheaper for me in the Z06 amazingly! But I love my s2000 so no thanks

The C5 Z06 offers the best bang for the buck out there. The only downside is the number of bucks to get there.
Don't let the fanbois and haters tell you what to do, go with what you like.
When in doubt, get both:

But hey, the Vette is sweet - if you like it, get it.

razor sharp handling is way more useful than torque on a car driven during everyday life/traffic.
Second, the modern Corvettes outhandle an S2000.

have you driven one? i have and it doesn't outhandle it in terms of road feel.
how is torque more useful? so you can get to the next stop light with a trailing cloud of smoke.
seriously, though, the vette is nice, but not cheap, bad depreciation, not reliable, not as exciting to drive, imo, and a S with gears is pretty fast for my standards.
get the vette. i've said it before: if you're asking the question, it means the love is gone.

You ask how torque is useful, then suggest one should get gears for their S2000. It seems you know the answer, but just for the record. Casually pulling away from a stoplight is easier with low-end torque. My S2000 just begs to go to redline at every shift. I hate to short shift her. The Z06, while I can take it to redline, it doesn't need it. I have no problem short shifting it. the difference? TORQUE.
BTW -- When it comes to outhandling...
Here is me driving my S2000 on the track:

Have you driven either an S2000 or a Z06 on the track?

yes, i have no doubt that the wide rubber holds more road, but the S feels better in steering response.
like i said, everyone that wants to ought to go get the vette already. but each one of my negative vette points is true and the list goes on.
