No, totaly straight. The only thing holding me back is a lack of $$$.

I can't get married or live on my own @ $1100 a month.

So for the past two years after high school I havn't fought it, I just said "what the hell, I can at lest have a nice car"

Let me start off with you would be an idioiting making that kind of money and attempting a greater car payment than you have now. And I don't know what you do but man you need to go into sales. It doesn't require a degree and 6 digit incomes can be had in numerous sales positions.

I think you guys are wasting your time. A guy who isn't interested in dating women until at least 30, wants to buy a C6 when he pulls in a grand a month, and lives at home with his parents is probably a lost cause at this point.

In the meantime, we shouldn't use the opportunity to whip it out and measure against other people in here. Here's a good article if this guy is really interested in learning about different 'good' career paths:

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bestjobs/
I didn't feel like people were measuring anything. I didn't hear anyone bragging, but instead talking about different career paths and the kinds of opportunities they afford. It's not obvious to people who haven't been out in the different fields.

The best job list is interesting though.

Do you have a full-time job? If you are 20, not going to college, and only making $1k/mo net, WTF do you do all day? Even flipping burgers 40 hrs/wk should pay more than that I would think, and if you figure out the bun-cheese-ketchup-burger combination, they will probably make you a manager before too long.

And PS...chosing a job based solely on salary is idiotic. I think people who get degrees in something that makes them unemployable (like art history, or ancient roman writers or something) is stupid, but pick something that will pay you a reasonable amount of money, and you ENJOY. You will grow out of wanting your life to revolve around cars, I promise...I'm a car nut, but there are plenty of other importan things in life. If you don't enjoy what you get out of bed for every day, your life will be Hell. I mean, at worst, go do something involving cars...but get yourself a PROFESSION. You apparently have a job, which is for people who are going to school, but you need a career if you ever expect to do anything in life.

While, I believe this is true the majority of sales guys don't make the kind of money. Sales is a very diverse field from working at the Gap to cars to selling software etc. It depends on your goals. If your goal is only to make money the easiest way possible I guess selling drugs is an idea!! But, the risk/reward ratio is high in that one! Going to college is beneficial in many ways not just earning potential. If the OP can figure out how to get to college and what to do it's a great experience for many reasons. Just finishing college is big achievment and is worth a lot for no other reason.

Gee at your age I was making $10K/month selling cars and that was 25 years ago when that was decent money.

Edit:
Just saw Derrycks's post and yes sales is a great way to earn a living if you are good at it. I got burned out in a few years but no matter what you do in life sales is involved. You have to sell yourself to get a job for instance.
