I HATE HYBRIDS

At what point does the testosterone leave a males body and he says to himself you know forget the sports car I want a Smart car / hybrid . Took the wife and kids to the county fair today ( side note we were on the ferris wheel when the earthquake hit, it was a blast to sway side to side). We took my Tundra Crew Max now with SC, but this dill hole was penny pinching and trying to get one million miles per gallon on the freeway. He was blocking our way till finally a lane opened and I floored it. It felt great to have that much horsepower under my right foot. I don't give a squirt of plss that the truck gets 10 mpg. Penny pincher trying to eke out a extra mile per gallon probably was cursing my carbon footprint but I don't care.
Life too to not have a crap load of horse power.

I drove my parents hybrid for about a month, and it was a great car.
This can be said about any non sports car. How many people see a Camry, and go "damn, that's sexy !" It's just like any other form of non descript transportation.

I could live with a LS600h.
Of course, the standard LS460 gets better highway economy [26 vs 23 if I'm not mistaken] so I guess I'll take one of those in white or black, I'm not picky.
I'm all about efficiency. I don't really give a $hit what my mpg is, I just want it to be efficient. If I'm driving the FJ cruiser and it gets 22mpg, that's respectable. 28 in the NSX, not bad at all. 26 in the s2000, a little questionable.
The early/mid 90's civics and corolas got 40mpg on the highway.

I think the writer is a moron. We should all try to make a positive impact in ways that suit us individually, and I'm glad that hybrids are a good way to do that for so many people.
I dd like this quote, esp. the part about Celine Dion:
"Too bad popularity is not a measure of good. Never has been. Millions of people watch Grey's Anatomy. Millions more smoke menthol. Last year a ridiculous number of people paid to see Celine Dion in concert. No thanks."

Your "life" is nowhere near reality for 99% of the population if even half of what you say about yourself and your lifestyle are true. Fact is, most people don't have the luxury of being able to spend money without regard for where it's going, especially on big trucks with superchargers that get 10 mpg.
You're rich, you don't care about anyone else outside of your family, and you'll give anyone that disputes it an e-whuppin' right after this message from your local steroid supplier. We get it. Consider the dead horse well-beaten and move on with life.
About the only thing I can commisserate with is people driving stupidly slow to save gas. I had someone doing 52 mph in a 70 zone last Sunday and another doing 54 mph in a 70 zone this week (for miles and miles on a two-lane highway).

I drove 150 miles at 55 mph on my donut this past weekend, cruise control 99% of the time. 27.2 MPG. I drove 300 miles cruising at 80-90 a few weeks ago, no cruise control, sprints up to 100+. 28.5 MPG. Driving stupidly slow is just stupid. for us at least
