208 hp, ~200 torque, 2,600 lbs...
The MazdaSpeed3 is 260 hp, but weighs 3300 lbs... so, 52 less hp, but 700 less lbs?

Wow... weighs less than an S2K with just a little less hp.
And you know you'll be able to pay $500 for a chip that gives it an extra 50-70 hp.
I called it previously, but this thing (if the rumors are true) is going to rape the GTI and Mazdaspeed 3 in straight line, maybe even handling too, and most of all in pricing. I just don't understand why Hyundai showcases it in orange... I think it'd look good in white or black, maybe a Laguna Blueish. But orange? Orange makes almost any car short of a Lambo or Ford GT look hideous.
If Hyundai releases it a 'sport' oriented version to compliment the Genesis coupe, equips it with LSD + 6 speed manual/Dual clutch transmission, I think they'll have a winner.
Will Mazdaspeed and VW fanboys cry loudly when they're getting spanked by a Hyundai? Hopefully.
P.S. Ok Honda, where's the CR-Z Si Turbo that'll compete with this? C'mon...

Regarding the MS3, dont' forget it does have 290 torque in stock trim and a easy to mod as well. Even with the added 50-70, a modded MS3 will be putting down more hp than the Hyundai is running at the crank.
This car will not challenge the S2k even with the weight and potential power. Your going to need a lot more development time if you want to do that, and I refer to the latest Civic Type-R who's handling, weight, and power; spot on. It is the only car from Honda to openly challenge the S2k on the track.
I've been on this forum quite a bit and I don't see much Mazdaspeed or VW fanboy-ism. Why are you so angry?

Good for Hyundai!
It's nice to see some manufacturers are willing to take a bit of a risk with something like 1 door on 1 side and 2-doors on the other
It's nice to see some manufacturers are willing to make some serious performance models
It's nice to see some manufacturers are willing to make a diverse portfolio of offerings and they don't only think about CAFE ratings
It's such a shame Honda has so completely lost their mojo

Check this out - http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/255962/
According to Honda R&D chief Tomohiko Kawanabe the so called hot CR-Z is not going to be a turbo, it is going to be the existing 1.5 with IMA, only the battery will be stronger and maybe the 1497cc will be a slightly bigger 1.5
All in all, I read this as just another f'ing lame move by Honda

Well, to be fair, the CR-Z isn't ugly.

Basically, it's an ugly Mini Cooper, probably with worse handling.

Basically, it's a different Honda CR-Z, only Hyundai was smart enough to give it some balls.

Please take the time to read before posting a reply, nobody said the CR-Z was ugly........

I guess if you'd ever dealt with or talked to VW fanboys, you'd understand. They're like Honda(Tech) fanboys, but with some sort of weird 'Euro' prestige instead of 'JDM yo' prestige.

I know. But I was pointing out that fast and ugly is not always an acceptable combination.
