Default Hyundai Veloster Turbo

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/08/r...08-horsepower/

208 hp, ~200 torque, 2,600 lbs...

The MazdaSpeed3 is 260 hp, but weighs 3300 lbs... so, 52 less hp, but 700 less lbs?

In all seriousness, the specs are intriguing. That's a lot of power in a package that small/light. Makes you wonder what you could do in a smaller car (aka Miata) with a similar powerplant.

It begs the question: are we to the point where we can have our cake (power) and eat it too (high fuel efficiency)?

What goods the cake if you can't eat it?

Wow... weighs less than an S2K with just a little less hp.

And you know you'll be able to pay $500 for a chip that gives it an extra 50-70 hp.

I called it previously, but this thing (if the rumors are true) is going to rape the GTI and Mazdaspeed 3 in straight line, maybe even handling too, and most of all in pricing. I just don't understand why Hyundai showcases it in orange... I think it'd look good in white or black, maybe a Laguna Blueish. But orange? Orange makes almost any car short of a Lambo or Ford GT look hideous.

If Hyundai releases it a 'sport' oriented version to compliment the Genesis coupe, equips it with LSD + 6 speed manual/Dual clutch transmission, I think they'll have a winner.

Will Mazdaspeed and VW fanboys cry loudly when they're getting spanked by a Hyundai? Hopefully.

P.S. Ok Honda, where's the CR-Z Si Turbo that'll compete with this? C'mon...

Not even close. Torsion beam rear axle and a tiny motor do not equal something like a MazdaSpeed3. Also remember that it has a 1.6L motor so it's pretty tapped out at 208 hp (it's already at nearly 50% over normally aspirated power levels). It's not going to have near the potential of most turbo motors. Also remember that this is a RUMORED motor and power levels are not confirmed.

Basically, it's an ugly Mini Cooper, probably with worse handling.

Nice platform, though I'm still not sold on the looks.
