Husker BMW did this same crap on a M3 eBay foul-up and things went crazy. Maybe someone should show the Hyundai dealership this: http://www.dealerrefresh.com/wrath-of-the-...alk-about-ouch/

it took less than 24 hours for the power of the internets to get this guy what he wanted (even tho we don't know what deal he worked out). good work, internets!

UPDATE #3: More from McFly: "Good news, Glenn Hyundai and I have come to an agreement. I am now taking the next step, and changing every one of my posts to reflect that 'This was a misunderstanding and we have come to an agreement.'

I'll give the details of the agreement once everything has been finalized.

Thanks so much for all the help that you've all given me."

No word on what the "agreement" is, nor what the "misunderstanding" consisted of. That said, all of McFly's posts have been changed to read, "This was a misunderstanding and we have come to an agreement."

I'm thinking we'll eventually find out what happened. I suspect he won in the end.
Yeah, misunderstanding my ass. I bet $100 that they said, "Look. We screwed up but we don't want to sell the car that cheap. Now, you can either take us to court or we will give you a similar price if you agree to tell everyone on the internet that it was a misunderstanding."

Yeah, it'll be interesting if "an agreement" means the car for $16,125 or something between that figure and what it's tagged for on the lot or even some other deal like a different car.

I got my S from EBay, the starting price was low (and the reserve), and I suspected based on other auctions for the same year/mileage they expected a few bids and it to go for another $2K-3K. It didn't, mine was the only bid.

Doesn't ebay enforce this stuff? I mean, they make profits out of the sale, so if a bid is won and not enforced, they'll lose money
Ebay doesn't enforce sh*t. Have you ever tried to contact eBay?

It took 2 police depts to get eBay to respond on one of my deals and all they said was that basically they were the vehicle for putting 2 parties together and it was up to them to work it out.

I did get the Attorney Generals of 2 states involved and finally prevailed, but I'll never do eBay again.

BTW a friend of mine has been in the same boat on 2 different occassions, he just won't learn.

ebay doesn't help in any way and it's not really enforceable. their reputation system is only mildly interesting too. at this point it's no skin off the buyer to try and win an auction. if you win and the dealer backs out you are out very little, so trying to get good deals is worth it, but ebay is useless in enforcing them.

Doesn't seem like it was even that good a deal. With all of the commotion, you'd expect the price to be 10K. I bet the dealer would still make money off of it at that price, especially if you factor in the previous deal's trade-in. F dealers.

Apparently the dealership has reneged. Time to fire up the solid-black fax paper loop.
