the z06 gets similar mileage due to the long gearing and low FD. the 4.1 stock final drive kills us, as you can see when we're at 3k rpm at only 55 mph.

Another benefit of pushrod engines is that they aren't as tall as DOHC machines. Doesn't seem relevant, but new legislation is going to require cars to have more underhood clearance for pedestrian crash safety, making for some ugly cars.

Big ol' pushrods like the Caddy Sixteen will still enable a manufacturer to get past this legislation with a sleek looking car.

This was done by splitting the speed sensor signal from the rear wheels and replacing the front wheel speed signal with that, so that the ECU would see both wheels turning at the same speed. If I remember correctly, he did a couple other investigations via different methods that showed the same result.
