My wife owns a restaurant with her parents and the impact on food costs is significant. Flour has gone from $12 a bag to nearly $30. Everything is UP, UP, UP... It's tough because restaurants don't change prices all the time...but we are looking at doing an increase across the board to help offset...they went from doing price/menu changes every 2 years to now, once a year...and hell, the last one was just last year in April...so that's 11 months.

It's not just the FUEL costs...it's making EVERYTHING else MORE expensive.

Welcome to the 70's.
We're already paying that much...
$1.24 a liter for premium,in my neck of the woods....
So,4 liters = 1 gallon=$4.96 a gallon...

I find it funny that the dumb crackers in this country voted Bushy into office twice. He made all sorts of claims before both stating what he'd do.......empty promises. He as well as the VP have ties to big oil and how much has big oil made during these times? A got damn fortune. It's all a conspiracy theory though haha!

$4.00 a gas is practically here for us Californians. It sucks for me right now and I'm feeling it as a full time college student who works only 25 hours a week. An extra thousand bucks a year is a lot for me.

Its not just regular people who say these silly things but some of our Texas politicians too. Last year they wanted to have a state gas tax holiday for the whole summer to cope with the then "astronomical" prices. Of course this would have seriously undermined the State DOT budget for building and maintaining roads which is already in dire straits thanks to multiple rounds of federal recissions. Thankfully it didn't get far and drivers are still on the "pay to play" plan.

Cheaper gas encourages people to drive more and buy gas hogs. if you want to get in shape you have to work-out; no pain no gain. If you want the US to be less dependent on imported oil/gas more than likely you need to feel some pain at the pump.

I was in NYC and met a couple from Canada, they were telling me how the Oil-sand is making a killing now that oil is at $100 a barrel. It's like oil sand different than oil you have to process it more which cost money but when the price of oil goes up the relative cost to extract the oil sand and the profits are huge. They told me the local economy where they are from is so great and the government is just about paying people that live there b/c they have so much extra money.

My point is think how much Saudi, Iran, etc. is pulling in from $100 barrel oil rahter than when it was $25 a barrel. I imagine those countries are running such profits that we can not even comprehend.

I don't too much mind the cost, but I do a little. But more are concerned how the non-too-nice countries are taking our money over there for who know what.
