I cant verify but I remember reading a few months ago that it was a horrible sales failure and they were going to pull the plug on it already. I have nothing against the car, its just what I read.
So does the Solstace have the same life expectancy as this Pontiac?

Is that a Fiero??? I didn't recognize it at first without a Diablo bodykit on it...

I cruised over to one of Solstice forums the other day:
1) 1 recent thread was an owner who had been without their car for 30 days, and was about to go into arbitration under Florida's lemon law.
2) Lots comments about the S2000 being 10 year old technology. Even if you agree with that, it begs the question of why Pontiac hasn't caught up.
3) Several people lamenting how little their used Solstices are worth.

Pitiful.

Well the Fiero lasted one full generation, as flawed as it was. The GT was the only one that mattered of course, and other than the bodykit mania surrounding the car, seems to be the one version the car is remembered for, other than the original that started on fire.

As for Pontiac owners being upset about resale value, I say boohoo. What, did they expect to be able to retire on a current Pontiac? Whether GM's resale values are up or down is moot when you're talking about a car that starts at $20k. Building or holding value isn't even in the equation where cars in that price realm are concerned. That's basically like expecting your Civic Si to retain 50% of its value indefinitely. It just won't. Cars are made in such massive numbers now, it's not going to happen, let alone the fact that there are other higherperforming used cars that will detract from resale as well.

What's that about???

Buying a product from Honda that revs to 9,000 rpms is no biggie, buying a GM product that spins up to that speed would have me very concerned.

I suspect many of the people who are complaining about the Solstice resale are those who paid full or over MSRP initially. Look no further than the threads talking about S2k resale to see similar issues. Initially the S2000 sold over MSRP. Now it's under MSRP. That drop in actual new price means that all used versions of the car are priced relative to the new car price rather than the used car price.

It's not surprising that sales are down now that the economy is slackening, winter is here and the car is no longer the newest thing on the block.

I am surprised how many so called car people seem happy when GM (or any car company for that mater) sees a product, a sports car no less, falter. It

I personally don't think the S2000 is washing away, I think now its when its becoming more popular and as days go by it becomes more popular. To this date there are so may people that do not know about the S2000 and once they find out about it they just can't forget it about it. I think that is what makes the S2000 so special and wanted.

They might not be selling as much as before or have they? Anyone can gather the sales numbers for the S2000 and see if sells have dropped or increased and what year was themost sold? Thanks.

I see more S2000's in my area than these twins. I haven't sat in one yet but they just look small to me, like sub-Miata small. Magazine reviews were favorable but these cars never really pushed my buttons. I got mildly interested after watching that Speed channel driving competition, where they all used GXP's.
