Default How to remove pinstriping

Some jerk backed into my civic and dented up the fender. The only replacements available were either the wrong color or had a pinstripe. I took the one with the pinstripe but I need to remove it because it looks ridiculous since the rest of the car isnt striped.

I have no idea how to remove it without damaging the paint. Can anyone tell me how or recommend a place to bring it to?

Thanks

is it a sticker or is it painted on? if its a sticker use a heat gun or blow dryer, get it hot nd it should come off, then use some goo gone to get the rest of the residue off.

make sure its not underneath the clear coat, though. I've seen somewhere the dealership or body shop or whatever sprayed clearcoat ontop of the pinstripe.

Exactly. It takes some time, but it works.

Its painted on?

You gotta go over it several, and I do mean several times (especially if it is old), to get the glue on the back of the pinstripe to loosen. It took me two hours to remove the entire pinstriping on both sides of an Accord, and the striping was merely a year old.

They are glued on, I have seen older cars with half the pin striping gone due to whatever reason. Takes time, better than having an off color panel. Just take an hour or two and blow dry it off.
