Every boring sedan now a days is 6 seconds or under 0-60 it seems. Hell the S2000 stock feels incredibly slow in a straight line compared to most other sport cars. 6 seconds 0-60 has become fairly slow in regards to "quick" cars.

Here is a quick glance at other cars that we all know well and their times. What do the ones with a sub-6 seconds 0-60 have in common over the BRZ/FR-S?

TT Supra 326hp @ 5.1 seconds
2005 NSX 290hp @ 5.0 seconds
E46 M3 343hp @ 5.2 seconds
S2000 240hp @ 6.0 seconds

0-60 in 6 seconds or less is not slow, its just that more plebeian cars are now close/capable of such speeds. Also, races don't end at 60 mph, to judge a car based on how fast it gets to 60 is extremely shortsighted.
New sports cars are easily hitting 4s now, but your average passenger car is still in the high 7s to 8s. Cars are more powerful but also heavier, so acceleration times haven't changed too much over the years.

0-60 in 6 seconds is slow in my book. My car is slow 0-60. I am ok with that, but I'd rather it be in the low 5s or high 4s like my last two cars.
Sure, races don't end at 60mph but when you're wanting to get a good idea of a car's capability in real-world conditions it's the best stat to look at. I'm driving between 0 and 60 for 90% of my miles.

I guess it's a perspective thing. I remember Car and Driver noting that they considered anything under 8 seconds quick. I remember when more cars that not were around 10 seconds or even slower to 60. Straight line speed is fine and can be a lot of fun but as my old man said, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. I haven't driven the Subyota (it's more Subi than Toyota) but after years in cars like the Miata I really care more about the feel than being faster than a V6 Accord. How often do I do a 100% throttle acceleration for any length of time? Not much. How often do I try to enjoy the feel of a car? Most of the time. The S2000 is a great car not because it's faster than other cars but because it has a great feel.

At the same time. Make the same great handling fun car accelerate fast and it would be infinitely more fun to drive imo.
I love everything about the S2000 except for the power and acceleration. Once I doubled the HP sc'd it made the car practically perfect and actually is fairly quick now.

I have gone back and forth between fast cars and slow cars for many years. Where you are driving often makes the difference in which car is the most fun. I 100% get what Rock is saying about his old man's saying, "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow." A few weeks ago I played with a C6 Corvette GS back to back with a Miata. The Vette was comfortable, fast, and handled well. The problem was that there was no where I could really drive it to it's limits on the public roads I was on for more than a few seconds at a time without risking hurting someone or going to jail. The Miata on the other hand was just a basic little slow car that I could push much harder and play with without much danger of having anything other than fun. That doesn't make the Miata a better car or the one I'd rather own, but the chances to have fun while driving it would likely happen 20 times as often as while driving the Vette. I may well look at the BRZ/FRS as my next daily driver. I've got a faster car in the garage but one that's slow enough to play with some on a daily basis can keep me smiling.
