LOL I said the exact same thing wen I read that.

Either way though, HOW THE FLAMING F does that happen? Like...how many brain cells does it take? Seriously. If I were this guy's FIL, I can't fire those guys fast enough.

accidents happen. If you fire everyone every time they mess up, you will be surrounded by people who do nothing for fear of making a mistake. While a car falling off a lift is a serious issue, the tech was probably overly concerned with following instructions and not exercising his brain (probably because the owner convinced him not to). If left to his own devices, but encouraged to read the owners manual and maybe call someone at a Lotus shop, this would never have happened. The assumption that you are smarter than the other guy can cause problems lol.

I think you give people too much credit. Plus, I believe the owner mentioned how he opened the owner's manual to the page for jacking up the car for the techs to read. He mentioned how the techs did not read completely through until after the fact. (of course I realize this is still word of mouth). I can see that happening a lot more.

Look at the bottom of the car, it's flat as a pancake I know Lotus paid attention to these cars, but that is NICE.

While I certainly agree with this in the general sense, the owner did say he did everything but stay and watch them work to make sure everything was OK. I dunno...just seems like a total WTF to me.

Why do you need to lift a car that high off the ground to change wheels?

The car would have toppled off even if it was only 2 feet off the ground, but maybe the damage wouldn't have been as bad... I'm surprised the thing didn't flip over on it's roof.

+1

if it's a hard car to lift why don't they lift one side at a time like you would do in your driveway?

Exactly. Last I checked you don't even need 2 jack stands to change 1 tire on a normal car. Exotic car or not, a 2000lb Elise shouldn't require any more effort than a daily driver.
