How do most s2000 owners view the hardtop Miata?

i was never a fan of the MX-5 but the new hardtop version does looks pretty good. i still would rather stick with the S for the performace, style and the Honda badge. overall the design of the HT is very well executed on the miata, only if the s2000 had the option still the S2000 is my choice of open air driving

I always wanted to test drive a Miata. I still can't get my legs into the interior though. I can fit in an Elise but not a Miata. Very odd. It seems like Mazda really tries to cater to people who are buying their cars, which is always a plus for the enthusiasts. And yes I have always loved the Miata's style and still find it funny people equate them to girl's cars.

I don't understand those complaining about the lack of power anytime a Miata is mentioned. In most cases it involves something being daily driven and a S2000 doesn't exactly have the most accessible power band.
My problem with the S2000 while I had it is the car is slow as balls until 8000RPM and then it's over. The Miata I drove felt much more lively down low where it matters puttering around.
Another thing is that A LOT of S2000 owners would be all over a NC Miata with I/H/E if they found the car attractive. Sounds like 75% of the buying decision comes down to if the which car looks "sexier." I think as an overall package a NC Miata is a much nicer car and plenty capable but that should be expecting considering the S2000's final model year is in essence the same car that was released in 1999.

Hate the idea of a powered-hardtop Miata. Sorta goes against Miata ideals of simplicity and light weight! I'd never own one, just like I'd never own a Miata with an automatic. I do understand why they make 'em, though. Broadens the appeal. If selling a few more cars with powered folding hardtops and automatics helps justify the existence of "proper" Miatae, so be it!

Let's face it: the Miata has less power, but costs about 1/4 less than an S2000. Is it really an achievement to pay more/sell for more and deliver a bit more performance?
And let's face it, if the Miata hadn't sold well, Honda would never have had the balls to do the S2000.

I use to own a NC... They are fun cars and the interior is great.... but the exterior is lacking IMO. Now that I don't own one... when I see them on the road they look a bit girly compared to the S.
Fun Factor is on par with the S though. The limits are higher in the S but I could feel the limits better in the MX-5.

The PRHT Miata is a very nice car but a step down from an S2000 in terms of handling, performance and exclusivity. It is a much better daily driver than the S2000, especially in Ohio.
