Honda's 18"accessory wheels for the Si
I was just looking at the Honda Civic Si brochure and the 18" accessory wheels that are offered look beautiful. How does the process of ordering optional wheels from Honda work?
How do you get them? Do the Honda dealerships have them in stock and do they switch them when you buy the car but before you leave the lot? What if you want the wheels but they don't have them in stock? Are you allowed to drive your new car off the lot or do you have to wait, leaving your recently purchased vehicle at the dealership until the optional wheels come in?
How much do the wheels cost? Is this price negotiable? Is there an installation fee? Do larger, optional wheels affect performance? If so, how? Will they fit with the stock tires or do you need new tires to go with the new wheels?

yes, yes no, maybe, yes, yes , no ,no ,no, yes.
that about covers it.
just kidding. the accessory wheels are generally stocked by the dealer. you will be charged an arm and a leg for them. you will need new tires and the one thing that EVERYONE forgets is that you should ask for the original wheels and tires.
if the dealership sells a civic for x amount of dollars that includes the freaking original wheels and tires, yet countelss customers pay for upgraded wheels and tires and they dont ever ask for the original or at least some discount equal to the value of the original.
i never understood that. its so obvious

yea, you just buy them as an accessory.
if you buy them on a new car, be sure you do get the originals, too. The dealer may very well try to keep them, but they are yours as you did buy them with the car!

Also you may be better off looking on the web for outfits that sell OEM Honda Accesories for much less than most dealers. Can save a bundle on expensive stuff like a set of rims.

Honda Civic Si brochure and the 18" accessory wheels.
Lots of information over at www.8thCivic.com.
Note: The color has been changed for 2007. See "8th Civic Forum" on this.
These wheels are also heavy! I believe there are posts on the weight at 8thCivic. New tires are required and YES, you do get to keep the stock wheels/tires that come with a new Si. CYA and ask for them, then sell on Si forums or ebay.
You will probably have to be a 'forum member' to post a sale. There are plenty of the stock Si rims and tires for sale at the moment, since there is so much aftermarket modding going on with this car. If you really want the 18-inchers, it is much cheaper to get them from an OEM accessory dealer. Search Google.
Personally speaking, the Si does not need 18-inch wheels unless you "wants Bling!" They detract from the quality of the ride and tires cost more. Just my two-cents'-worth. The car will do just fine with 17s.
BTW, Civic Si's with Navi systems are nearly impossible to find at this time; many have now been waiting for months for one so equipped, and likely won't get one until 1Q2007!
