If you want a somewhat updated version of the NSX get an Audi R8. It may be heavier but I think it's the closest we'll get to a real NSX successor.

They have no FR drivetrain at the moment. They have an AWD drivetrain. Building something around the latter seems like a much cheaper decision from an R&D perspective.
What was wrong with the old chassis and drivetrain? Put a small turbo or supercharger on the old s2k and call it a day. It might then need a stronger rear end, but honestly how hard is it to engineer that? By my count that is two things that need to be redesigned with the s2k, and an entire car for the "NSX". Them not wanting to build an s2k is more a statement about the company than anything else. Also, what is the point of a Halo supercar if they don't make anything else sporty. Nissan has the 370z, Toyota now has the FRS. Am I missing something here? Building a halo car only helps the company if they then sell the Sh*t out of their mid-level sports car.
