Honda swept top honors at the Detroit Auto Show!
Another possible omen came on Sunday, when Honda swept top honors at the Detroit show as its all-new Civic and first-ever pickup, the Ridgeline, were voted car and truck of the year by a panel of automotive writers. Both models were developed and built in the United States by Honda.
Toyota is targeting another 10 percent rise in U.S. sales in 2006, and auto analysts now expect the Japanese giant to supplant GM as the world's top auto producer in a year or so.

Go Civic and Ridgeline!

I looked at the Si when I bought a cabin filter at the dealer. It is NICE. The motor is shoehorned into that thing, though. The engine bay is small. Interior is HUGE for a small car.

I guess marching bands and movie stars do not increase the chances of GM and ford winning those awards huh.....
Maybe, potential customers will consider buying Jeep Wrangler(sp?) based on the glass breaking scene?

Honestly I look at the Ridgeline win the same way I look at Forest Gump winning an Oscar. Sure it's not a bad film but it really didn't have any competition. Honestly you have a revised Explorer and the new but nothing too different or special Xterra vs something somewhat original (Avalanche mates with Pilot).
The Civic can get nods because it will be high volume despite it's face.

High milage, high content, high resale in the category, rock solid reliability, low price. Small, cheap, clean, efficient. Each generation makes leaps forward over the last model which was usually a class leader.
Not too many other cars you can say that about except for maybe Accord's and Camry's.
