Honda Ridgeline
#14
This truck is awesome. Blows away the competition, domestic and Japanese.
It's the most technologically advanced pickup ever built, and I think Honda will definitely eat into sales of their midsize competitors.
For the record, it is NOT a unibody, and it is NOT a reskinned Pilot.
Well, it is technically a unibody, but they have basically built a rugged truck frame and then welded the unibody onto the frame so it is a unibody-on-frame design. It has torsional rigidity 2.5x greater than that of any other pickup truck on the market.
Also, it is not a reskinned SUV, the frame and chassis is nearly 100% new from the ground up.
The rear independent suspension, no body break between bed and cab, and in bed trunk are absolutely brilliant advances in the truck market.
Can't wait to check this thing out.

I don't think of the IRS as necessarily being an advance...yes, it will be good for the ride, but it also compromises load carrying capability.

Another V6 Honda entry in a V8 world. (RL, NSX?)
Methinks this will not be such a hot seller.

I think it wil sell well. Hondas sell well because they are Hondas. They may not be the best in its class, but it doesn't mean it won't sell well. Remember, they got rid of the HSC b/c it wasn't "popular" enough. So, sales is not all about performance.

Vtec in a truck...sounds dangerous... high end power on a truck seems useless, when your hauling something you want good low end torque not vtec to kick in at high rpms, anyone have any details on how vtec is going to work on this truck.... maybe im confused???

I'll agree on the in trunk bed being a brilliant advance. No body break betw. the bed and the cab...give credit to others, either the El Camino/Ranchero or Avalanche.

That's a total fallacy.
