Honda Pilot Suv Coming To Canada This Summer
http://english.honda.ca/athondaca/press_re..._2002_Pilot.asp Looks like the new redesign CRV to me.
3.5 litre, 24 valve VTEC V6. Is this a new engine?

It looks alot like the CRV.
I was eagerly anticipating this, but it is not anywhere close to what I wanted it to be. Guess I need to save a little more to get the MDX.

The "new" Pilot is a slightly decontended version of the MDX. The engine, tranny, suspesion, et al will all be very much the same. Granted, Honda will likely not make the Pilot quite as luxurious as the MDX, but it is supposed to be quite a bit cheaper than the MDX. At the same time, rumor is that Honda will give a power boost to the already powerful MDX to further differentiate the vehicles.
An interesting side note, the Pilot is supposed to be a little taller and a little wider than the MDX so it will have even more room inside than the cavernous MDX.
To be sure, the styling is derivative of the last gen CR-V, but to my eyest that's good. I think it looks nice. I only hope Honda does a better job of ensuring that the then most expensive Honda is handled better by Joe Average Honda dealer than our little roadsters were. I.E. no price gouging (polite for customer hosing), and better service.

Finally, a Honda-built replacement for the Passport! It is supposed to be based on the MDX platform, and likely shares many components so cost efficiencies should help the end price. I am lookig forward to this, as I have waited quite awhile for this!

As far as the Canadian model is concerned, it will be produced to compete with the Toyota Highlander, Acura MDX ( which it shares the platform, tranny, engine etc.) and whatnot. The design isn't too tasteful.

I think it looks a heck of a lot better than the MDX. If it has all of the same mechanicals as the MDX, but fewer bells and whistles for $27,000 - $32,000 like the dealer promises - put me down for one! Time to replace that tired old Legend listed below!

The only thing that bothers me about the MDX is the front styling. The nose looks to high, kinda pushed up like it was driven off a platform and hit the ground nose first at about 45 degrees. That trait does not look as exaggerated on the Pilot. The Pilot does look CRVish which is not ideal, but for $5,000 - $7,000 less than the MDX (for basically the same vehicle) it gets my attention.
