Bye-bye Honda. My auto is a Subaru now (Honda didn't have anything to offer me) and my next bike will be a Yamaha. Soichiro, out of respect, I keep my Honda lawnmower and 4 stroke weed eater, just for you. They are 100% focused on producing cookie cutter automobiles and they have left the sporty car driving Honda fans in the dust. The CRZ? It's FWD. Even morons know you should have one sport model in your lineup as the flagship.

Saint, you are leaving off the Integra. Yes, FWD (and most were open diff) but if you ever drove the Type R in anger you should still have been impressed.

Or the Del Sol. Or CRX. Hell, my '74 Civic with clown car wheels was a sports car compared to most of what was on the road at the time.

I just hope they don't throw away the V10 records just in case their green direction fails
They'll always have their V10s (and V8s). They're just not willing to share with the public

Part of it's cultural differences between Japan and US... small, efficient, environmentally friendly cars are simply in higher demand in Japan than they are here.
So what? America is the largest car market in the world, why not go where the money is? Oh, wait, Honda is here, its just cut out the sports car part of its portfolio. Honda has in fact never shown much love to the US, the best sport versions of its cars are always reserved for its home market.

Given the projections to sell 10 million cars in 2009, I wonder how many were sports cars, sporty cars, and the like, and what the trend is if you look at 08, 07, etc. It may be a small percentage, but when you're talking about millions, thats still a big number.

I just got off the phone with Karl Edwards from GM (he is the lead car washer down at the dealer lot) Anyways he said that Honda is continuing to build sports car in 2010.

I have my Honda mower and that's it at this point. Frankly, how hard would it have been or how much would it have cost to update the S2000 to the 2.4 turbo motor, maybe destroke it a bit to 2.2L or even 2.0L, up the boost, up the redline to 8k (320hp or so) and change up the interior and exterior a little bit? They could have had another nice 6 year run with the S2000. How many of us former S2000 owners would have seriously considered picking up a 320hp turbo S2000 with revised suspension/brakes/wheels even if it had somewhat minimal interior/exterior updates? I know I would have been a lot more intrigued.

There isn't anything fundamentally wrong the S2000, it's a classic like a 911 or Miata is. Just up the power, beef up the brakes a bit, tuck the styling here and there and voila! a new S2000.

The S3000 on the cover of Road and Track no long ago with a 2.4L turbo and good brakes - I'm sold!

I dont understand people that say up the displacement or turbo or yadayada for the s2k engine. I thought we all understood what this motor was meant to be from the factory? and frankly doing any of these things to update power would simply be the easy way out for Honda.
